Over $30,000 in scholarships since 2001!
It started with $200 of Kristen's own money. It became her lasting legacy.
In 1997, Kristen Julia Drenten passed away after a two year battle with bone cancer. She had just begun her freshman year at South Aiken High School in Aiken, SC. Before she died, Kristen started this scholarship fund with $200 of her own money. Kristen's hope was to give one or two small scholarships to a few of her classmates graduating in 2001, what would have been her graduation year. Shockingly, by 2001, Kristen's Scholarship Fund had raised enough money to distribute seven scholarships. But it didn't stop there. Through the generosity of friends, family, and the community, the Kristen Julia Drenten Memorial Scholarship continues to give young scholars an opportunity to pursue their college dreams and keeps Kristen's beautiful memory alive.
