What did earning the Kristen Julia Drenten Memorial Scholarship mean to you?
"Affording college is one of the biggest challenges facing today’s students, especially in an era of daunting student loans and few jobs for graduates. Whether we like to admit it or not, the financial factor weighs in heavily on a student’s decision of where to spend their undergraduate years. For me, Wofford was my first choice and with the help of the Kristen Julia Drenten Scholarship, I was able to complete my first year at Wofford debt free. This peace of mind allowed me to choose a school based on its academic merits and personal fit rather than its price tag. Much of my success can be traced back to being in the right place at the right time—in a town where an internationally known fragrance company was located right down the street from my college campus. I have been so blessed by the Drenten family’s generosity and thankful for all that Kristen’s scholarship has allowed me to accomplish since graduation from South Aiken High School."
