What did earning the Kristen Julia Drenten Memorial Scholarship mean to you?
"In 2003 at the South Aiken High School graduation, I was both shocked and flattered to receive Kristen’s scholarship. I was not well acquainted with Kristen, herself, but I came to know and appreciate what a wonderful person she was through her family’s fond memories and through the impact of her kindness and caring on the people who knew her well. To me, this scholarship encompasses the ideals of benevolence and generosity to others portrayed by the Drenten family. Receiving this award further encouraged me to enter into a career where I could make a large impact on people’s lives and continue to give back to the community. It allowed me to understand and appreciate the influence that one’s person actions can have on others. I am honored to be included amongst those who received this award."
